Almost one in five adults have experienced some form of depression during the coronavirus pandemic (ONS, June 2020). This is almost double the numbers before the pandemic. We also know that although men feel more able to seek help for their mental health than a decade ago they also feel more worried and low in mood and are twice as likely to feel suicidal (Mind, 2020).
Mental ill health affects individuals and their loved ones and results in lost productivity in the workplace. Employers need to ensure that they promote good mental health in the workplace and that the workforce has timely access to mental health support.
